Postal Administration Building - 12.5 piastre

The Main Post Office building (Hôtel des Postes / دار البريد) in Beirut stands as a major architectural and administrative landmark in Lebanon’s post-independence history. Constructed during a period of rapid state-building and civic expansion in the mid-20th century, the imposing structure served as the central nerve hub for the country’s postal, telegraph, and telephone infrastructure, coordinating domestic and international communications during Beirut’s era as a thriving regional commercial center.

To commemorate the inauguration of this key administrative facility, the Republic of Lebanon (الجمهورية اللبنانية) issued a dedicated stamp set. Designed by V. Pliiss and printed in Beirut by Imp. J. Saikali, the stamp prominently features the modern façade of the Hôtel des Postes, showcasing Lebanon's commitment to modernizing its civic infrastructure and expanding its national postal service.
