Rotary International was founded in Chicago on February 23, 1905, by attorney Paul Harris, growing into a global service organization dedicated to humanitarian work, civic leadership, and international goodwill. By the mid-20th century, Rotary had established an active presence across Lebanon with early clubs in Beirut, Tripoli, and Zahle bringing together business and professional leaders to support local community welfare, health programs, and educational initiatives.

To commemorate the Golden Jubilee (50th Anniversary) of Rotary International (1905–1955), the Republic of Lebanon (الجمهورية اللبنانية) issued a dedicated airmail set (البريد الجوي) in 1955. Designed by Paul Koroleff and printed in Beirut by Imp. J. Saikali, the 35 piastre stamp features the iconic Rotary wheel emblem set against a radiant background, celebrating five decades of global civic service and humanitarian contribution.
