Citrus cultivation particularly oranges and lemons holds a vital place in Lebanon’s agricultural heritage and export economy. The fertile coastal plains around Tripoli, Sidon, and Tyre feature optimal Mediterranean growing conditions, making Lebanese citrus crops renowned across regional and international markets during the 20th century.
To highlight national agricultural production and promote Lebanese exports, the Republic of Lebanon (لبنان) featured citrus fruits in its mid-20th-century pictorial airmail series (POSTE AERIENNE / بريد جوي). Designed by F. Ott and printed in Beirut by Imprimerie Catholique (I.C. BEYROUTH), this 5 piastre stamp depicts two ripe oranges on a leafy branch, celebrating the country's natural bounty and agricultural identity.
