The International Festival of Baalbek (مهرجانات بعلبك الدولية), established in 1955, is one of the oldest and most prestigious cultural festivals in the Middle East. Held annually within the monumental Roman ruins of Baalbek in Lebanon highlighted by the soaring columns of the historic Temple of Jupiter—the festival serves as a premier international showcase for music, theater, dance, and opera. By bringing world-class artists, orchestras, and dance companies to perform amidst ancient historical monuments, the festival has long celebrated global cultural exchange and artistic excellence. Issued by the postal administration of Lebanon (LIBAN / لُبْنَان) as part of an airmail series (POSTE AERIENNE / بريد جوي), this stamp commemorates the Festival International de Baalbek, featuring classical theatrical masks and architectural stone carvings set against the backdrop of the ancient Baalbek temple columns.
