Apple cultivation - 100 piastre
Apple cultivation (زراعة التفاح) expanded dramatically in the mid-20th century across Lebanon's high altitude terraced mountain regions, including Mount Lebanon, North Lebanon, and the Anti-Lebanon range. Supported by favorable climate conditions, cold mountain winters, and mineral-rich soils, Lebanese apples became one of the nation's most lucrative cash crops and a major agricultural export across the Middle East. To highlight national agricultural production and showcase Lebanese fruit exports, the Republic of Lebanon (لبنان) featured apples in its mid-20th-century pictorial airmail series (POSTE AERIENNE / بريد جوي). Designed by F. Ott and printed in Beirut by Imprimerie Catholique (I.C. BEYROUTH), this 65 piastre green stamp depicts two golden apples hanging from a leafy branch, celebrating the country's mountain agriculture and economic vitality.
